Description

The full 50 lb bag of C&H Baker's Drivert – pure cane dry invert sugar, refined in Crockett, California. What beekeepers feed their hives, and what bakers build fondant from.

C&H Is On Strike – Pre-Order Now, First In Line Ships First

Straight answer: the refinery is on strike and nobody has Drivert right now. We have pallets already ordered, and because they are scheduled we are early in line when the sugar is released. Your pre-order puts you on our list – the sooner your order is in, the higher on the list you are for delivery when the pallets arrive. We email you the moment they land and ship or hold your bag that same week. If anything falls through on our end, full refund the same day.

Need it sooner? Call 408-641-7440 and we'll tell you straight what we have.

Need Drivert Today? We Have It – Just Not in the 50 lb Bag.

We keep Drivert in 5 lb, 3 lb, and 9 oz bags on the shelf right now. Ten 5 lb bags is fifty pounds, and you can have it today – walk into the Campbell store or order online. It costs more per pound than the bulk bag, because we're breaking a bag down by hand for you – but it's here now, and nobody can promise a pallet date while the refinery is on strike.

Built for a Wet Winter

If this winter runs wet, moisture is the thing that kills a hive – not the cold. Fondant is a soft, moist feed, and in a damp box it adds water the bees didn't need and can turn moldy before they touch it. Dry granulated invert sugar doesn't add a drop. The cluster breaks off what it wants and leaves the rest dry on the pallet or the shelf.

This is how Mike feeds all 30-plus apiaries. Sourced through a national supplier and brought in by the pallet.

Why Drivert Is Hard to Find Right Now

The refinery that makes this sugar, in Crockett, CA, is on strike. Drivert is scarce everywhere – a major national distributor told us they have none, and a couple of bakery suppliers dropped it entirely. We are all waiting for the strike to end. We have pallets ordered and scheduled, which puts us early in line when the sugar is released, and we are gathering requests from bakeries and beekeepers so we can order more. Small sizes – 9 oz, 3 lb, 5 lb – are still on the shelf.

Our full Judge.me star rating is moving to this page next – for now, here's the review from a buyer of this bag.

For Beekeepers

Winter feed needs to be dry. Syrup chills the cluster and adds moisture the colony can't afford – Drivert doesn't. It's the standard dry feed for winter and early spring. We feed it to our own bees – Mike runs 30+ apiaries across Silicon Valley, and this is what goes in the hives when the fall flow ends.

For Bakers

This is the sugar for fondant, icings, and glazes. It dissolves fast, sets clean, and finishes with a high gloss granulated sugar can't match. If you're building a professional set, this is the base.

Why We Carry It

The local shops that used to stock Drivert have closed. The refineries sell it by the pallet. So we buy the bulk and break it down – one bag or forty. No membership, no case minimum, no pallet minimum.

Please note: the 50 lb bag is excluded from all discount codes and promotions. Our margin here is deliberately thin so beekeepers and bakers can get it at all – there's nothing left to discount.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does a 50 lb bag of Drivert sugar cost?

$70 for local pickup in Campbell, or $122 shipped with the freight included. Each shipped bag travels in its own box.

Is bulk Drivert sugar sold out?

Right now, yes – the 50 lb bag is pre-order only while C&H is on strike. We have pallets already ordered. Pre-orders ship in the order they came in, so reserve now at today's price and you move up the list; we email you the moment the pallets land.

Can I get 50 lbs today instead of waiting?

Yes – if you don't need it in one 50 lb bag. We keep 5 lb, 3 lb, and 9 oz bags on the shelf, and ten 5 lb bags is fifty pounds. Walk into the Campbell store or order online today. It costs more per pound than the bulk bag, because we're breaking it down by hand – but it's here now, and nobody can promise a pallet date while the refinery is on strike.

Can I buy Drivert sugar in bulk without a membership?

Yes. One bag or forty – no membership, no case minimum, no pallet minimum. We buy it by the pallet from the refinery and break it down so you don't have to.

Does the 50 lb Drivert sugar bag qualify for discount codes?

No. The bulk bag is excluded from all discount codes and promotions – the margin is thin enough as it is. Our smaller sizes (9 oz, 3 lb, 5 lb) aren't excluded.
