About Our Honey

What makes your honey different from grocery store honey?

Every jar is 100% raw, unfiltered, and harvested from our own 30+ apiaries across Santa Clara Valley. We never heat-treat, ultra-filter, or blend with imported honey. Each of our 92 varieties is a pollen snapshot of a specific neighborhood at a specific time.

Is your honey really raw?

Yes, 100% raw. Never heated above 95F. All natural enzymes, pollen, propolis, and beneficial compounds intact.

Is your honey organic?

We are raw, unfiltered, and single-source – but we are not certified organic, and we will not pursue certification. Here is why: a single hive needs roughly 5,000 acres of foraging territory. Santa Clara County has 13 acres of certified organic farmland. Cities are not organic. Freeways are sprayed with herbicides to keep the edges clean. The water running through our valleys picks up everything upstream. No honest beekeeper in an urban or suburban area can call their honey organic – the bees do not respect property lines.

What we DO instead: we use organic methods wherever possible. Zero pesticides on our property. Compost-built soil, not nitrogen sprays. No neonicotinoids near our hives. We advocate for pollinator habitat on every farm we work with. Our honey is raw, unfiltered, single-source, local, and honest. Read the full explanation →

Why did my honey crystallize?

Crystallization is proof your honey is real and raw. Place jar in warm water (not above 110F) and stir gently. Never microwave honey.

How many varieties do you have?

92 distinct varieties from Campbell, Sunnyvale, Mountain View, Los Altos, Redwood City, Half Moon Bay, Santa Clara, Carneros, and more.

Local and Neighborhood Honey

What does micro-local honey mean?

Each jar comes from a specific neighborhood. Our Campbell Wildflower tastes different from Sunnyvale because bees forage different flowers in each microclimate. It is a genuine record of what was blooming in your neighborhood.

Can local honey help with allergies?

Many customers report that daily local raw honey helps manage seasonal allergies. Start a teaspoon of local wildflower honey 4-6 weeks before allergy season. Read our Allergy Pre-Game Guide →

Health and Wellness

What is propolis?

A resinous compound bees make from tree sap. Used for centuries for antimicrobial and antioxidant properties. We sell propolis tincture and Sweet Propolis blend.

What is royal jelly?

A protein-rich substance worker bees produce to feed the queen. Contains B vitamins, amino acids, fatty acids. We offer capsules with pollen and propolis.

Is honey safe for infants?

No. Never give honey to children under 12 months old. This applies to all honey, raw or pasteurized.

How are you saving the bees?

Mike manages 30+ apiaries with responsible practices. He serves as President of the Santa Clara Bee Guild, working with city councils to make beekeeping legal in residential areas. We partner with local farms for pollination. No neonicotinoids. Bees are struggling to thrive, and we answered the calling.
